You have your say

I have a huge number of blog posts in my head. They form themselves in there while I'm driving around, or pottering in the kitchen, or lying in bed. Some of them make it out into cyberspace, but the majority are still inside. They've probably formed an escape committee by now.

Here's where you can help. I'm giving you a choice of four. You can vote in the poll on the sidebar. I thought you'd enjoy having some say in what you get to read next and I've been wanting to run a poll for ages - you're not really a proper blogger till you've run a poll.

You have a choice of four.

1 The day I saw armed police running across my front lawn. That's all I'm going to say about this one.

2 Cooking. Have I embraced the American way? Am I Martha Stewart in the kitchen? Can I bake a pumpkin pie, or are bangers and mash still on the menu?

3 Here I am, in Tornado Alley. Do you want to know what that means on a day to day basis? What exactly is a tornado? How would I know if one was coming? What would I do?

4 Husband. He's a rather shadowy character in this blog. Do you want to know more about him? What does he do? What is he like? Can he multi-task?

5 Other. Is there something else that you just ache to know about me and my life? (I don't think the poll will give you space to specify what other subject you'd like me to blog about. If it doesn't, you'll have to write it in the comments box.)

I'll write the post that gets the most votes between now and midnight on Sunday (6.00am Monday if you're in the UK). In the event of a tie, I reserve the right to choose. I also reserve the right to pick "Other". If nobody votes, I'll never blog again.

Isn't the time going the other way? Midnight Sunday here = 6am Monday in UK? Or are you on the other other side of the world?

Oops. Yes. Thanks for pointing it out. I'll alter that.

I've clicked vote but not sure anything happened. So... Armed Police. It has to be Armed police.

Although the word verification is peadom which suggests you might have to blog about your cooking empire.

Guineapigmum - you have to click the little button on the left of the options, not on the words.

I have learnt a new thing today. Those little buttons are called 'radio buttons'.

If you come by again, have another go. If not, I'll add in your vote at the final count.

I want to hear about them ALL.

But Armed Police first please.

Husband! Husband! Husband! That's three votes already. That shadowy man behind your move to USA, the reason you are an ex-pat blogger. Husband!

I almost didn't vote out of sheer envy that you have so many posts knocking around in your head, whilst I have... none.

But I did, anyway.

Alright, I voted. But it was a tough call. Can't you just do all of them?

I'm envious, I really am, that you have all these ideas. Would you send me some?

Husband! Then armed police. Hope the two aren't connected.

Well, the police on the law in intriguing. I think a real challenge (and one I know you are up to) would be to incorporate them all into one story, fictionalizing where necessary.

All of them. But not all at once or in the same post ;-)

Oh I vote all of them too! The armed police intrigues me but I am such a nosy bitch (and separated) so I think Husband wins.

I too write blogs in my head CONSTANTLY. They are far funnier and insightful than anything that materialises once I am sat at the computer tho. So sad.

How on earth am I going to survive until the post???

Guineapigmum said...

Well, I've probably voted at least twice by now cos I clicked on the little button to the left to start with, then on the big vote button, then on the little button to the left...

Oh god, I'm going diving this weekend. After that lot I'll never cope with the buttons on my dive computer.

GPM - it shouldn't let you do that. Something to do with cookies. I think you've been eating your cookies instead of enabling them.

Wow, Iota, I go away for 10 days & when I return I find you've added a zooty tooty little voting whizzbang thingy. Tha's another techy thing you're going to have to teach me. I'm very jealous! Meanwhile I'm up for the Armed police one, but then when are American police NOT armed? Isn't that tautologous in the US of A context?? if you do, I'll post about my experiences of arme dmen in our park. I meet them all the time.

My word verification is TROUSY. perhaps it's telling me I shd have voted for hubby??

I voted but it was close! You can also come over to Pond Parleys as a guest blogger and use up some of your ideas there!!

Maternal Tales said...

Oh come on guys - definitely husband!! Spill the beans. Make him squirm. I've voted but he's running a close second. Might have to go back and vote again!!

Maternal Tales said...

I just tried to vote again and it said 'thankyou, we have already counted your vote'. Now that's just not fair. I wanted to cheat!

Don't you look good, sitting there blogging away? We're none of us very domesticated it seems, given the few votes at this stage for the cooking!

More than Just a Mother said...

Armed police, obviously.

I am most intrigued by the armed police story. You just have to tell all the details about it.

The kitchen. I am constantly hungry. And tired. Please write about some easy to do and delicious food. Oh, and please let it be filling and satisfying and creamy with max 500 calories per serving...

Wife in Hong Kong said...

Oh no, I didn't actually click on the voting mechanism. And now I've caught up with your technical wizardry I find the poll is closed. I thought it was all about the comments. Duh! But had I, I'm sure husband would've won. Go on, you know you want to!

Mya said...

The poll is closed, I know. But I'm going to vote anyway. I want to know more about your shadowy husband...because I am a nosey parker and curious to know what sort of a guy drags his wife and family into the dangerous path of not only tornadoes, but armed police too???

Well I missed the vote but I'd have gone for the hubby or the police one. :D

This is the third comment I've left on this post which must count for at least a dozen more hits for shadowy husband. Oh and btw, I've tagged you.
WV chant. That's what I do!

I know voting has closed -- but Iota in the kitchen ounds good to me. Have you converted to cups or do you still weigh?

Oh -- and as someone who grew up in Tornado alley, I've got the drill down-pat. If it's a "Tornado Watch" -- you just hang out and eat popcorn and keep the telly on to see if it develops. If it is a "Tornado Warning" you go to the basement, bring along a flashlight, cell phone, and radio if handy. If there really is a funnel cloud coming your way, you'll want to be in the NorthWest corner of your basement (or if you have no basement, in a ground-floor room with no windows like a bathroom or closet under the stairs) -- with a heavy book over your head and neck as you sit cross-legged facing the wall.

(Sounds complicated? Now can you please inform me -- an American gal heading to England the mysterious and even more complicated procedure of de-scaling the teapot? I'm lost.)
